Juniors take on Newton Shield Champions

Elderslie welcomed the Newton Shield Champions, Old Ranfurly. The Champions fielded a strong team with the initial 3 players boasting handicaps of 2, 5 and 6! It was also a warm return for Aiden O’Hagan the current Elderslie Junior Open champion. The drives off the first were fantastic with Elderslie staying in touch, and commencing the tough battle. As Robert McIlroy, Scott McGrenaghan, Andy (Old Ranfurly Junior Convenor) and myself (Craig Campbell) watched the games it was exciting stuff.  2  games were quickly over (Lewis and Caolan), however the rest battled on to the last few holes.  The overall results are detailed below, however it does not state what a great night it was between two clubs who have become firm friends. Well done to Jack Tourish whose first Newton Shield performance resulted in a superb win. Also of note are the two reserve players who won their matches.
