The Elderslie Trophy, the club’s 36-hole Scratch Open Competition, was won yesterday by John Laurie with an impressive 138 total. As weather conditions deteriorated, John was able to add a 71 to his super morning round of 67. John, who plays out of Glasgow Golf Club but also has a membership at the village club, is shown here with club captain, Robert Reilly, picking up the magnificent trophy. Runner-up was Kilmacolm’s Paul Reilly on 141 with Elderslie’s Lee Jenkins taking 3rd spot on 143.
The competitors were most complementary about the condition of the course with one stating that the greens were “the best I’ve putted on so far this year.” Well done to John Gairoch and his staff.
The competition was run flawlessly by a team of Elderslie’s finest volunteers led by Past-Captain Neil McLeod, ably supported by Colin MacKenzie from Match & Handicap with Phil Coyle as Starter.
