Saturday is a big day at the club with the member and guest day competing for the Copan ‘A’ Chardeis – the “cup of friendship”. Over 140 players will compete to try and win the Trophy with some wonderful prizes on offer.
The gents team suffered only their second defeat of the season when they lost 5-3 to Caldwell. On a beautiful evening the away side didn’t hit top form, and with the dreaded local midges having their say late in the evening it proved too much.
The junior team had an excellent win over Kilmalcolm 31/2 – 21/2 finishing a very respectably in mid table. This was an excellent performance from such a young side.
We had a great day with over 115 entries. The weather was warm with no wind with the course in fabulous condition. Winner of the Elderslie Trophy was Stuart Cameron who shot 69, (taller guy on the left) and Alastair Love shot net 66 to win the Elderslie Open (in the blue shirt). I am in the middle.
The Gents team maintained their impressive record last night with a 5-3 win away at Old Ranfurly. With two games remaining and a record of won 7 lost 1 the team are certain of reaching the semi finals with a likely home tie.
Past Captains Allan Haldane and David Burns won the regional qualifier of the Belhaven tournament at Irvine Bogside. They now progress to the next round held in Northumbria next month. If they succeed there, they will be on the way to Portugal for the finals. Good luck guys.
