Elderslie defeated Paisley in the final of the Newton Shield at Old Ranfurly to take the title for a 4th time.
In a very close match, they ran out winners by 4 1/2 to 3 1/2. Wins for Colin Edgar, Alistair McDougall, James MacDonald and Lee Jenkins and a halved match by Stuart Cameron saw them through.
A very successful season for the team who already claimed the Spiers Trophy saw them win 10 of their 12 matches – a tremendous effort.
Congratulations goes to the team and to the manager Cameron Robertson for an excellent result.

A great day with over 45 entrants saw Aidan O’Hagen of Old Ranfurly win the Elderslie Junior open.
Aidan is one of the top juniors in Scotland who at the tender age of 14 already has a handicap of 2 and has represented Scotland.
Saturday is a big day at the club with the member and guest day competing for the Copan ‘A’ Chardeis – the “cup of friendship”. Over 140 players will compete to try and win the Trophy with some wonderful prizes on offer.
The gents team suffered only their second defeat of the season when they lost 5-3 to Caldwell. On a beautiful evening the away side didn’t hit top form, and with the dreaded local midges having their say late in the evening it proved too much.
The junior team had an excellent win over Kilmalcolm 31/2 – 21/2 finishing a very respectably in mid table. This was an excellent performance from such a young side.
