Annual Charities Day Event
We held our annual golf charities day event yesterday and we have raised an amazing £2,195.00. This amount will be split between two local charities, Accord Hospice and Capability Scotland. A BIG BIG thank you to our fabulous charities day committee, Kelly, Amanda, Ann Marie, Neil and Colin for arranging the day, without all your effort, hard work and time this would not have been possible. We would also like to thank Scott our Club Professional for his donations, all the local companies who donated the fantastic raffle prizes, our very supportive members for their generous donations, gifts and taking part on the day. And of course our fantastic course manager John and his hard working staff for keeping the course in amazing condition and making it a pleasure to play. Another special thank you to Alison and her team behind the bar, Raymond and his staff in the kitchen and to the ladies, seniors and junior sections for their support that we received on the day. We smashed last year’s total of £1,200 and we are extremely grateful and as are both charities, bring on next year ⛳ #biggerandbetter #teamegc #workingasateam And one last mention and a big WELL DONE to the team who WON, our very own team EGC Colin Edgar, Jen Sexton, Jack Burns and Laura Craig. Once again, thank you for all your support and we look forward to next year. Many thanks, Kelly Forsyth Managing Secretary

Ladies Open Day – Wednesday 13th July 2016
The Ladies Open Day took place last Wednesday with 75 ladies, from 17 different clubs, playing in the competition. The ladies enjoyed a great day of golf, good food and refreshments! The winners on the day, with a tremendous score of 61, were Janette Murray (Elderslie), Sheila Henderson (Elderslie) and Margot McLeod (Erskine). The Ladies Section chosen charity this year is St. Vincent’s Hospice. A raffle on the day raised £560 so a big thank you to everyone who bought tickets. Special thanks to Joyce Kelly and her Open Day Committee for all their hard work in organising the event and making the day such an enjoyable occasion. Thanks also to the bar staff and all the helpers on the day.
Junior visit British Open
Just like last year the club kindly financed the juniors visiting the British Open. Craig (Junior Helper) was supported by Alastair in keeping the youngsters in check. The weather was kind as were numerous players who took time out to sign autographs and support “selfies”. The club not only paid for the Open they even paid for the train tickets!! We are so fortunate to have a club that genuinely cares for the up and coming future golfers. The boys enjoyed the play zone where we bumped into a member who is working at the event (Colin Edgar). Young Josh even made it onto the STV News !!
Junior Open 2016
A fantastic turn out of 42 juniors supported the 2016 Juinor Open. An event that is regualrly being cancelled in other clubs due to lack of numbers, both Scott and Colin made sure that this did not happen at Elderslie with a massive effort via telephone, emails and social media to generate the impressive numbers. Onto the golf….. even with the wet weather the scores were impressive, all chasing the fantastic prizes that Scott had generated. Not forgetting the younger juniors, a seperate 8 hole competition was created for them (thanks Neil), which witnessed two Elderslie juniors winning, Sophie and Makin McGrorty. With a full clubhouse of juniors the prizes were handed out, well done to the new Elderslie Junior Champion Roddy McAuley (Fereneze/Caldwell/4 hncp) who shot an impressive 64. Other juniors of note were Jack Burns who took 1st in the net score with an amazing 63, and Ben Campbell who took 2nd including closest to the pin. A great turn out by all, many thanks to the bar staff and the supporting scorecard team who managed all incoming scores.
